Kobe
docks (Pier 8)

You
only live twice (1967)
At
dawn on January 17, 1995, the Port of Kobe suffered extensive damage
as a result of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, the strongest direct-hit
earthquake Japan has suffered since the end of World War II. Located
directly above the epicenter, the Port of Kobe suffered from the settlement
of wharves and piers, cave-ins in yards, collapse of sheds and storehouses,
and destruction of cargo handling equipment. In addition, the earthquake
destroyed transportation infrastructure to the Port, including the Kobe
Bridge, Harbor Highway, and Hanshin Expressway. This is a difficult mission
to locate the original pier or whatever has been built in
its place.
